Chatbot
What is a Chatbot?
A chatbot is software that holds a text conversation with users. Traditional chatbots follow fixed scripts and buttons; AI chatbots use large language models to understand free-form questions and answer from a knowledge base.

The line between chatbots and AI agents is the ability to act. A chatbot answers; an agent answers and then does something, such as booking, updating records or triggering a workflow.
Most modern business chat assistants on websites and WhatsApp combine both: they answer from approved content and complete simple tasks.
